Lightweight & Premium

At only 4.09 lbs, the EP9 is shockingly lightweight. This makes the EP9 easier for beginners, better for extended range sessions, and easier to carry on a sling. We believe that weight savings improve the usability of a firearm in every way, and that is why we have been making lightweight firearms for close to thirty years. If you ask competition shooters or gunfighters if lighter is better, they will all agree with us!

Glock Magazines? Yes!

The Glock-pattern magazine is the most common and widely available 9mm magazine in the United States. We know that magazine compatibility is important to shooters, so we were the first to patent a Last-Round-Hold-Open for Glock magazines in PDWs. This means that the EP9 can take the same magazines as your sidearm, and that you can use your existing collection of magazines with the EP9.

Soft Shooting & Dependable

Through years of rigorous testing and development, we found that the Direct Blowback operating system is the most reliable and longest-lasting choice for 9mm. We combined this reliable system with our Advanced Recoil Impulse Damping System to bring soft recoil to this extremely lightweight pistol. Our unique design and polymer materials mitigate bolt bounce, reduce felt recoil, and increase control and comfort.

Plenty of Room for Accessories

Our M-LOK handguard has a total of nine M-LOK slots for mounting of accessories such as a flashlight, laser, or an angled foregrip. M-LOK makes it easy to mount accessories without adding any rough rails that may interfere with the shooters grip. Our handguard extends past the muzzle and top rail to allow for a easy full C-Clamp grip.

A Full-Length Rail

The top of the EP9 sports a full-length picatinny-stye rail. This rail allows many options for mounting sights and optics, with enough forward real estate for switched or lasers. The picatinny-style rail is at the right height for using low-mounts on optics.

Long Lasting & Easy to Maintain

The bolt, barrel, and ejector of the EP9 have all been treated with BLACKNITRIDE+. This finish for steel has been a game changer in the firearms world, by further hardening the steel’s surface and giving it lubricity. This treatment makes the bolt and barrel long-lasting and easy to clean and removes the need for lubricating the bolt.

Loved by the critics

“I would not think twice about using this for home defense, and I can’t even believe that, and I own $3,000 ARs. I think it’s a great option. I think it’s the best budget option that I have seen so far... When I first saw this gun-I thought it was good be too good to be true... but this gun is for real. I shot over 1,000 rounds through, half of that suppressed, with zero failures. It was accurate as well... It happens to be my wife’s favorite gun.”
-Honest Outlaw

“Overall the EP9 Gen 2 presents a compact package that's easy to manage, lightweight, and offers more muzzle energy than a 9mm handgun thanks to the 6.5" barrel. I've experienced zero reliability issues so far, in fact, the only complaint I can think of is that some aftermarket Glock-pattern mags didn't fit great, but even that's a weak complaint and out of Extar's control. This is a gun that I seriously recommend to anyone looking for a range toy or defensive tool. It's fun AND practical, AND very affordable!”

“I think this offers a ton for the money. I like the flash can, I think that it not only looks cool but provides a bit of benefit there you know you’re not gonna see any flash at you. I like the AR controls, I like that they added this arm brace, and the B5 Systems Grip is really nice. You know it is very lightweight, it shoots very softly, and in my opinion, has a ton of benefits for right around 450 bucks.”

You say polymer. We say superior.

It's an ongoing debate. Some swear by steel. Others opt for polymer. We recognize the merits of both. But we firmly believe the Extar EP9 should have a place in everyone's arsenal.

We've been in the polymer industry for more than 40 years, so we know a thing or two about it. Yes, polymers are lightweight, but they are also so strong and so durable, that militaries around the world have been using polymer framed firearms for years, and for good reason.

Polymer-framed firearms:

  • Outlast those with steel components by 6x
  • Are ultra-water resistant and don't rust
  • Are leaps and bounds ahead in comfort
  • Have incredibly close tolerances
  • Are impervious to acids, salts and solvents
  • Are supremely wear resistant, resisting denting or bending
  • Don't require the lubrication metal ones do
  • Don't degrade
